How much do gutter guards cost? Screen, micro-mesh and premium, priced on three houses
Gutter guard prices for a small, typical and large house in three types — aluminium screen, micro-mesh, and micro-mesh with the gutters re-pitched — from our pricing engine, plus which one your trees call for and whether they are worth it.
Gutter guards are priced by the foot of roof edge, so the honest answer to “how much?” is “how long is your roof edge, and what falls on it?” Here are installed prices for three kinds of guard on three sizes of house, from the same pricing engine our quote tool uses.
Installed prices by house
| Type | 140 ft of roof edge | 180 ft of roof edge | 240 ft of roof edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminium screen | $1,529 | $1,931 | $2,535 |
| Micro-mesh | $2,938 | $3,743 | $4,950 |
| Premium micro-mesh + re-pitch | $5,051 | $6,460 | $8,573 |
Roughly a small ranch, a typical two-storey and a large home. A typical house works out at about $11 per foot for screens and $21 for micro-mesh, setup included. Prices before tax; a local installer's rates decide yours.
What each one stops
- Aluminium screen — clips over the gutter and stops leaves. Lets pine needles, seeds and grit through. The budget choice under broad-leaf trees.
- Micro-mesh — a fine stainless mesh on a frame. Stops leaves, needles, seeds and the granules an ageing shingle roof sheds. The usual choice under pines and oaks.
- Micro-mesh + re-pitch — the same guard, with sagging gutters re-hung to drain properly first. Worth it when water already pools or overflows at the corners.
Are they worth it?
Under trees, usually: guards end the twice-a-year ladder job and the overflow that rots fascia boards and stains siding. With no trees near the roof, a once-a-year cleaning is cheaper. Look up: if branches hang over the roof, the gutters will fill.
Measure your own roof edge
You do not need a ladder. Try the gutter guard quote: enter your address, trace the roof edge on the satellite map, and the length and price for each guard type update as you go. Replacing the gutters themselves? See gutter installation cost.
