What you pay for
- The roofline. Most of the price: lights along the edges of the roof, priced by the foot. Professional installation runs about $2.50–$7 a foot including the lights, hanging and take-down (HomeAdvisor, 2025). Pointed gable ends and steep roofs mean more feet than the outline suggests; our quote measures them.
- Extras around the house. What decorators commonly add, at the prices on our starter list (each decorator sets their own):
- Light the bushes: about $180 — net lights on up to six shrubs
- Wrap a tree: about $220 — trunk and main branches of one tree
- Pathway lights: about $140 — stake lights along the front walk
- Wreath and garland on the door: about $160 — lit wreath and garland around the front door
- Height. A two-storey house needs taller ladders and more time, so it costs a little more per foot.
- The season. Rented lights are usually hung, fixed during the season, taken down in January and stored, all in one price.

Questions
How much does a Christmas decorating service cost?
Most of the price is the roofline. Professional installation runs about $2.50–$7 a foot including the lights, hanging and take-down (HomeAdvisor, 2025). On our pricing engine, warm white lights on a typical 180-foot roofline come to about $850; bushes, a wrapped tree, pathway lights and a lit wreath are added on top.
What does a Christmas decorating service include?
Usually the design, rented lights and decorations, hanging everything, fixing anything that goes out during the season, taking it all down in January and storing it until next year. Ask what is included before comparing two quotes.
Can I get a price without someone coming out?
Yes. Type your address above: we trace your house from aerial imagery, measure the roofline a crew would light, show it lit up at night, and price it. A local decorator confirms the details before they start.
When should I book a Christmas decorator?
In October or early November. Decorators schedule in the order people book, and the weeks before Thanksgiving fill first.
