What does “digitized roof quote” actually mean?

A digitized roof quote is a roof estimate made by software from aerial imagery instead of by a roofer measuring on site. It finds your house, traces the roof outline, converts that footprint into roof surface using the pitch, and prices the job with material and labor rates.

Roofers have ordered aerial measurement reports from companies like EagleView and Hover for years. A digitized quote puts the same idea in a homeowner's hands: no appointment, no report fee, a number in about 30 seconds. It is a first price, and a roofer still measures and inspects before the contract.

What it cannot do is look under the shingles. Rotten decking, a second layer to tear off or a steeper pitch than it appears all change the real price, which is why the result is a range and a starting point for talking to roofers, not a contract.

Our free tool assumes a typical 6/12 roof; a steep roof has about 16% more surface, so its real price runs higher. Prices use typical US rates, and local quotes vary with labor costs, roof complexity and what is under the shingles. Treat the number as a benchmark, not a contract.
