Shingle warranties are one of the most-misunderstood topics in residential roofing. Homeowners often assume a "lifetime warranty" means they're protected for life against any roof problem. GAF Master Elite, Owens Corning Preferred, CertainTeed ShingleMaster — these designations require contractors to be vetted, insured, and trained. For estimators: pitch the extended warranty as a $300-$800 upgrade that increases the homeowner's protection 10×. Most say yes once they understand the gap between "material warranty" and "everything warranty."
