Concrete patio cost in 2026: broom, stamped and exposed aggregate on three patio sizes

What a concrete patio or slab costs in broom finish, stamped and exposed aggregate on 10×20, 20×20 and 20×30 ft, what goes under the slab, and what a concrete quote should spell out.

Concrete is priced by the square foot, but two things decide the number: the finish on top and the work underneath. Here are three patio sizes in three finishes, and what a concrete quote should spell out.

What a concrete patio costs

Type10 × 20 ft20 × 20 ft20 × 30 ft
Broom finish$2,664$4,928$7,193
Stamped or coloured$3,671$6,941$10,212
Exposed aggregate, reinforced$4,928$9,457$13,985

Priced by the same engine our free quote tool uses, at its starter rates, with a 4-inch slab over a compacted base. Breaking out and hauling away an old slab is extra, and so is sealing.

Price your own: trace the patio or slab on the satellite map and pick a finish.

The three finishes

  • Broom finish: plain grey with a brushed texture for grip. The cheapest, the grippiest when wet, and it needs nothing afterwards.
  • Stamped or coloured: pressed with a pattern and tinted to look like stone, brick or slate. Needs resealing every few years to keep its colour.
  • Exposed aggregate: the top washed off to show the stones in the mix. Slip-resistant and hard-wearing; a favourite for pool decks.

What goes underneath decides how long it lasts

  • Base: 4 inches or so of compacted gravel. On expansive clay, such as much of Central Texas, the base and drainage matter more than the finish.
  • Thickness: 4 inches for a patio or walkway. Codes generally require at least 3½.
  • Reinforcement: rebar or wire mesh holds cracks together when they come.
  • Control joints every 8–10 feet, so the slab cracks where it is told to rather than across the middle.
Concrete is walkable after a day or two and reaches full strength in about four weeks. Keep furniture, grills and planters off it for the first week.

What a concrete quote must spell out

  • Square footage, thickness and finish
  • Base depth and material, and how it is compacted
  • Rebar or mesh, and joint spacing
  • Tear-out and haul-away of anything existing
  • Sealing, if any, and when
